The California Association of Blind students (CABS) is a proud chapter of the National Federation of the Blind of California, which is the California affiliate of the National Federation of the Blind. The NFB and CABS have a positive philosophy of blindness: "The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day, we raise the expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want; blindness is not what holds you back."
Basically, we believe that blindness should not and does not limit a person's potential. With certain accommodations and equal access, blind people can achieve just as much as our sighted counterparts. As such, we in the student division strive to improve the lives of blind students by promoting web accessibility, fair accommodations, and anything else that helps blind students get the same education as sighted students. We have come a long way, but we still have a long way to go... And that is why we need your help!
Blind students from across the state are invited to join CABS. We are a close-knit family of blind students. The only qualifications to being a part of CABS are that you must be blind or visually impaired, and you must be a student. You can be in high school, college, a training program, a certification program, a non-traditional student, or just taking classes for fun. As long as you're blind or visually impaired, and as long as you are a student currently enrolled in California, we would love to have you!
There are a lot of perks that we in CABS offer. Here are just a few. As a member of CABS, you will:

Finally, spread the word. We would love it if you and/or someone you know can join us, and we would really appreciate your help sharing this flyer, along with our mission and philosophy, to your sighted and blind friends alike. We wouldn't be the group that we are today without you. We are the voice of blind students across California, and we invite you to join us!
