This is my specific research area:
I have built a system that renders technical documents using speech
and non-speech audio for my PhD.
(Mike, this uses a dectalk), well, almost, it uses a multivoice.
The system I have built can render text books written in the TeX
family of languages ie latex, tex, amstex and is currently working off
a number of books that are in preparation or have been recently
published.
It was designed specifically with complex mathematical content in
hand, and currently works very well on complex math as well as plain
text.
