Subject: CDROM Project

Robert Jaquiss has been on top of the CDROM scene for several
years. He is well qualified to direct a project on behalf of the
R&D Committee with the objective of developing a set of "reference
cards" that guide blind consumers accessing specific CDROM
applications and databases. The results of Mr. Jaquiss' work will
be published in Braille and electronic text and will be available
at the NFB Conventions and E-mail.

The project will initially use JAWS and ASAP speech access
programs. It is assumed that instructions for CDROM access using
these two popular screen access utilities would be of some use to
those using similar products. At some later date, other screen
review programs could be considered.

We must now choose CDROM titles for the first set to be documented.
I will place an order for the selected titles in the next week.
Please give me your suggestions for specific titles, categories and
subjects. You may want to study a list of available CDROMS.
Robert Jaquiss has contributed several lists to our NFBCAL archive.
Just yesterday, Robert sent me a substantial list of CDROMS
currently available at moderate prices via mail-order. I will be
happy to share this list in response to your E-mail request.

Sincerely yours,

T. V. (Tim) Cranmer, Chairman
