Re: Tips and Canes

Hello all,
Before discarding the notion of an NFB cane having
space in its handle for tips, consider that modifying the handle to store just
one tip likely would not noticeably change the handle's ergonomics.
One spare tip would meet a reasonable failure model.
After all, car designers plan for only one spare tire, not several.
The diameter of the plastic cap at the top of the cane is nearly the diameter of a cane tip.
What are the specific dimensions of tip and handle?

On the other hand, I oppose any modification that increases the cost of an NFB
cane without a marked improvement in the design.

I encourage not changing the NFB cane until a prototype is
demonstrably a better cane.
John
