I believe that for most of us, the metal on the
tip would wear out before the rubber, so
I am not sure it is worth a lot of effort.
I would support using better metal though.
Also, on the fiberglass canes the screw comes loose eventually,
as it is epoxied in. The stud is molded onto the
cane on the carbon fiber canes, that it is actually the end of
the shaft, which is better. The construction of fiberglass canes
may not allow this, but if it does, this would solve the
loose screw problem.
