I think that when we look at the issue of descriptive video, we really
have to look at "what are our needs." I don't even know if descriptive
video is the answer for everything.

I get disgusted when I turn on a newscast and hear an announcer say,
"here are the basketball scores" or "here are the school closings".
Then, music is played. I think TV newscasters should be encouraged to
present this information orally as well as visually. I think it should
be mandatory that weather warnings be given in both formats.

Another issue in this debate is sports coverage. Many of the basketball
games I'm interested in are not on radio. The Telecasts give very little
informatioon. Often, radio broacasts are available by satellite, but
they are not carried locally. What can be done to encourage TV networks
and boradcasters to carry these on the SAP channel? It is a dilemma.
