What Do You Consider to be ACCESSIBLE?
Here's your chance to *really* make a difference at the beginning
of a project. Your input, opinions, suggestions and
observations are wanted! Please answer the following question
in no more than 200 words:
Q: If you were asked to design a 'kiosk' or interactive
communication display device for placement in a public area,
what designed or specialty item or items would you like to see
included in the hardware and/or software to make accessibility
easiest for you?
This information is being compiled for a national trade
publication which circulates to designers, manufacturers,
developers, marketing types, etc... in the multimedia
communications field.
Example of Items you may wish to consider include:
Video-audio presentation of information.
Graphics interface, screen readers, Braille coupons/receipts
Height of screen, depth or set-back from front, obstructions
Input capabilities for all types of impairments.
Touch screens, Braille keys, track ball, stylus
Physical placement in high foot traffic areas.
Access for wheelchair, knee space, turning, entry doorways
You will probably have hundreds of other items to add to the list
these designers and manufacturers should study. Now is the
time to make them listen. They've asked us to submit ALL
preferences, so let's NOT disappoint them. If you don't complain
now, don't complain after you can't use them!
We will acknowledge all submissions. If you would like to be
credited as a contributor, please include your full contact info:
Name, Addr, Ph, etc... in case we need to verify any points.
As always in the publishing business, time is at a premium.
Please submit your pieces via e-mail no later than Friday night.
Each piece should be 200 words or less, BUT you may write
pieces on as many topics as you like.
ALL submissions will be compiled and made available in print or on
floppy disc (3.5") to all participants.
