Tim,

Two issues are really involved here. First of all, what is the best way
to present braille. I have had the idea for a long time of an 80-cell
display with 4 lines of 20 cells. It would be small but make it possible
to red a line very quickly without having to move arrow keys or stretch.

As far as a mouse is concerned, it would seem to me that two units would
have to be involved. I think the 40 cells accross and four lines would
be ideal for finding choices, but wouldn't such a unit be unwieldy to
carry. Perhaps, a handheld module that would attach to a convention
braille display would be a possible.

As far as what such a unit should be called, my Seeing Eye dog,
Valentino, suggests a cat. If we use the rodent metaphor, a rat might be
a possibility. When I think of turtle, I think of the LOGO program.

Another option would be to take the Berkeley Systems approach and use the
keypad, or perhaps sumething like the external keypad of Screen Reader or
the Speaqualikzer.
