Need I answer this? I am old, tired, and have been here/there before.
Our Smith-Kettlewell experiments included much dynamic activity with wearable vests delivering electrical stimulation, as well as vvibrotactile (whose results? provved better).
A marked result was that if you turned off every other stimulator (going from 400 points to 100, for example, there was no detrement to object recognition. Puzzling over this for years, the following conclusion was reached:
"Internal detail" of an image was obscured by stimulation around it. This is why the lower-case "e" "a" "s" and "o" are so troublesome with the Optacon. The skin can't hack it! More stimulators, while this point is being sold to the blind every few year
