Hello:

I just received this brochure from ScreenScan. I scanned it in and here it
is. It looks like a blind person could access microfilm with this device.
Scan the film, take the TIFF file and run it through an OCR program and
read the results. Sorry is the following is messy, I didn't have much time.

 SCREENSCAN's ELECTRONIC IMAGING STATION

What's big, purple and now has a Product Of The Year Award? It's Barney, our nickname for ScreenScan's
Electronic Imaging Station. This simple screen is really a complex electronic gizmo that converts microfilm into
electronic images at the touch of a button.
Selling for between $6,000 and $12,000, it is ideal for those who don't want to undertake a massive backfile
conversion of old records, but need to manipulate, fax, e-mail or print occasional records that have been archived on
microfilm.
The bottom line: It scans the actual monitor of the microfilm reader. That makes it universal. It doesn't matter
how else it integrates - it's a physical attachment.
ScreenScan works with every microfilm reader on the planet, and installation is easy - you pop out the reader's
existing screen and plug in Barney. Sorry ... ScreenScan. Nothing else needs to be replaced, altered, changed or
modified. If only life was this simple.
Documents are scanned at 400 dpi with 256 levels of gray per pixel. Images can be sent directly to a laser printer
without a PC using the video interface. Proprietary image enhancement technology from Scangraphics has been built
into ScreenScan to improve the print quality of your old microfilm.
