THOUGHTS ON BRAILLE MUSIC

Hello:

This morning, I read a reference to a product called Nightingale that
reads sheet music and converts it to MIDI files.
I called the vendor and was told that indeed this was true. A product called
Notescan reads a TIFF file generated by scanning a piece of music. It does OCR
on the TIFF file and passes the output to Nightingale which is a music composition
system. With some cleanup, a person could read a piano or orchestra score and
get a MIDI file. One problem with these programs is that they run on a Macintosh.
It occurs to me that a MIDI file could be converted to braille music notation.
Have any of you dealt with the MIDI protocol?
