The October 13 USA today carries a similar article in the news section.
The chip works with a pair of glasses that send laser
pulses to an electronic retna that stimulates the optic nerve.
Although it is possible to electrically stimulate brain activity in the visual
center, it is not known if electrical stimulation causes the brain to form visual images.
Remember Frankenstein and zapping dead frogs in biology lab to make them jump?
Give the blind information access with cane and braille.
While we remain second class citizens, the dollars these projects
receive and the public attention that follows do more harm than good.
