Subject: Announcing: blind-hams Mailing List

Hi all.

There is now a mailing list specifically designed for blind amateur radio
operators. To subscribe, send an email message to:

majordomo@azstarnet.com

No subject line is necessary. In the body of the message, place this
command:

subscribe blind-hams

That's all there is to it. Within a few minutes of sending that email,
you should receive a confirmation message, letting you know that your
command was successful, along with one which will give you some general
information about the list.

I envision the list as serving most every purpose relating to the hobby
that could possibly be of interest to any of it's members--from getting
started to comparing notes on "blind-friendly" equipment (or how to make
equipment which might not appear to fall into that category do so),
from setting up schedules to sharing hobby-related experiences, and
discussing the social ramifications amateur radio has had on our lives
(the opportunity to meet new people, etc.), and most everything in
between. If it's even remotely related to amateur radio in general and
the blind community's participation in it in particular, it will be fair
game for discussion, within the normal bounds of courtesy, good taste,
and the like. A channel has also been registered with a small new IRC
network, giving list members an opportunity to meet and chat in real time
on-line, as well as a means by which we can share public-domain and
shareware files related to the hobby, when the need/desire arises.
Specific information on this will be sent to new list members upon
subscription.

I look forward to seeing everyone who might be interested on the list.
Questions about anything i may have forgotten to cover here may be sent
to riddler@azstarnet.com and will be replied to directly.

Thanks.
