Thanks for this interesting paper. You put in it a lot of good ideas. I
just want to add two comments:

The problem with many manuals is, that they constantly refer to pictures,
showing the locations of controlls on the device or refering to graphics
symbols on knobs. So in many cases, a section would have to be added
explaining the position of the different controls. But that makes things
more complicated again.

I would like to ad point E.:

In cases, where spoken output is confidential (for example in teller
machines) a head phone jag should be built in.
