The following announcement has just been released by the
American Association for the Advancement of Science. NASA
is offering at least eight paid summer internships for

Dear Colleague:
The Project on Science, Technology and Disability, at the
American Association f or the Advancement of Science
(AAAS), has recently contracted with NASA/Goddard Space
Flight Center to manage the NASA Technical Experience for
Select Students (N-TESS). This is a paid internship
program designed for undergraduate and graduate students
with disabilities who will receive support and training
to ensure success in technical careers.
Beginning May 28, 1996, the program will run for 10
weeks. Students will work with scientists and aerospace
engineers in an area compatible to their interest. This
is a chance to apply academic skills in the workplace and
get practical professional experience. Accessible
housing,
transportation, and appropriate assistive technology are
available. We need your help in recruiting appropriate
students with disabilities for this program.
Students must be majoring in a technical field, such as
Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or Physical
Sciences. They must have a cumulative G.P.A. of 2.9 or
higher, have proof of U.S. citizenship and be enrolled in a
4-year accredited institution or in graduate school We are
offering a minimum stipend of $3850 for 10 weeks.
Each interested applicant must submit a transcript,
resume, and two letters of recommendation to me.
However, since time is short, students should first
contact me by E-Mail , fax, phone, or TDD at the above
numbers.
Enclosed are a few flyers with the details of the N-TESS
program.
Thank you for your assistance.
Sincerely,
Laureen Summers
