        Although most people on this list have jobs, I thought you guys might

explicitly list working with blind students, there is definitely a need
here, and people who don't mind worming their way into that position should

MINIMUM STARTING SALARY: $2716/month

SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Under the general direction of the Disability
Resource Center Director, the incumbent is responsible for
providing services to students who have mobility and/or
orthopedic impairments, to students who are hard of hearing or
Deaf, and to students with learning disabilities.
Responsibilities include: program development, student advising,
special projects, education and training, and liaison and
advocacy with faculty and staff on issues related to those
populations.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: Manage services for students,
in accordance with UC guidelines, interpret disability
documentation from other sources and make appropriate
recommendations for services in consultation with other staff;
serve as campus resource for information and coordinate the
provision of sign language interpreting and real-time captioning
services; provide disability management counseling, advising and
training to students with disabilities; serve as back up for
other Program Services; provide information about the
University's admissions application process and services
available to prospective students; make recommendations on the
admission of students; research available technology for use by
students, recommend purchases; project budget needs; in
consultation with the Learning Disabilities Program Services
Coordinator, perform screening interviews with UC students to
assess potential learning disabilities; make referrals for
services and diagnostic assessment.

QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE (with or without accommodation):
Demonstrated related work experience advising populations of
adults with disabilities or equivalent skills such as those
obtained through college courses or professional training
programs; skill working effectively as a team member; excellent
presentation skills; excellent analytical and problem-solving
skills; strong organizational skills, including demonstrated
ability to independently maintain records, establish goals, set
priorities, take appropriate action, and follow through on
projects in a timely manner; excellent writing and proofreading
skills; excellent verbal communication skills, including the
ability maintain objectivity; knowledge to maintain
confidentiality of sensitive information and records; the
abilities to: work cooperatively with staff in a mutually
supportive environment; interpret medical and diagnostic reports,
and draw service implications from them; devise new and improve
existing procedures and work methods; frequently use computer
technology; learn individual responsibilities relating to
interpreting. Preferred qualifications include: related
experience in an institution of post-secondary education;
experience with word processing and other computer applications;
related course work such as psychology, sociology, education;
experience serving diverse multi-cultural populations; knowledge
of American Sign Language and deaf issues.
