Possibly as long as two years ago, I believe there was something on this
list about a project to electronically read braille. It seems to me that
it had something to do with researching scanning and OCR techniques where
something simpler that print was required. I don't remember any more
details and I haven't searched the NFB-RD archives, but it might be worth
a look.
