Hi John, I have an 8-dot brailler manufactured in Dresden by Erica
GMBH. It is a bit tricky to keep the paper feeding correctly, but it
works. I paid 800 DM for it a couple of years ago, about $500. I
thought it was a decent price.

As far as I have been able to learn, there is no such thing as a
braille slate. Erika said they would make one if somebody would pay
for their tooling costs. I have been trying to contact them to find
out what a contract for slates would cost. Your note reminds me that
I should try again.

Does anybody know the OEM manufacturer of the 6-dot braille slates?
These companies may also be interested in making an 8-dot slate. If
somebody knows who they are, I would be glad to give it a try.
