Hi--The latest issue of Access Review gives considerable publicity to GBX or
the Global Blind Exchange on the internet. They give a toll-call phone number
and an internet address which I did not note down. The article said that it was
specifically designed to be fully accessible with screen reader and paperless
Braille, but mentioned that one of the sponsoring organizations is the ACB of
CA. They were advertising all sorts of chat groups and a "shopping mall" for
aids and appliances. Also lots of stuff to download. I only have e-mail and no
other internet access so didn't take down details. Has anyone tried it? Is it
only ACB propaganda or is it a really free exchange? Any channce of the
Federation doing something like this...making the bulletin board in Minneapolis
generally available on the net? After I get a little better with e-mail I plan
to buy an internet service as long as it doesn't require windows. (My son at
college uses AOL but that requires a graphical interface.)
Best, Ed Meskys
