aloha, y'all!
once again, please excuse the promiscuous cross-posting, but the
following emessage from wayne buttles pertains to a potentially
disasterous turn in DOSLynx's development...

I hate to leave the old computers in the dust, but I also hate not having
a real port for my computer. What is the general concensus, do more
people want a 386 DOS version or a WIN32 console mode version (regular
windows is out for me).

of course, the WIN32 console mode version to which wayne alludes would
require a pc capable of running windows 95, since it would use the
built-in win95 winsock instead of a tcp/ip package or SLIP/PPP emulator...
so, why is it so important that you email wayne? he's the only hacker out
there who's working on stablizing DOSLynx, so it is extremely important
that if you want continued speech-friendly DOS-based access to a SLIP/PPP
account based on the familiar lynx conventions which you can use without
recourse to windows-based software, you email wayne
and tell him that:
1) it is important _NOT_ to exclude users of pre-386s from access to a
viable DOS-based version of Lynx
2) that it is also essential that he not forget the blind/visually
handicapped users (past, present, and potential) of DOSLynx
email wayne now, or forever hold your peace...
gregory.
