YOUR SPECIAL INVITATION
Members of the National Federation of the Blind of Kentucky
invite you to Louisville for a special celebration of the
successes of outstanding blind individuals and the progress made
toward elevating the status of the blind in the twentieth
century. This gala event will take place on Saturday, May 8, in
the West Ballroom at the Galt House Hotel from 7 until 12 p.m.
There will be no charge except for the cash bar. An orchestra
will be on hand playing big band music for your dancing or
listening pleasure, and an assortment of hors d'oeuvres will be
available for your enjoyment.
Short tributes will be given by some local dignitaries. Are you
wondering what triggered this wonderful celebration and why we
chose the eighth day of May? Dr. Marc Maurer, President of the
National Federation of the Blind, will receive the degree of
Doctor of Laws (Honoris Causa) from the University of Louisville
earlier in the day. So, you all come and help us celebrate this
momentous occasion with Dr. Maurer.
The Galt House will honor the special room rate of $65 across the
board for this event. I am maintaining the room list for the
hotel. If you plan to attend this celebration, or if you wish to
reserve a room at the Galt House, please contact Betty Niceley,
(502) 897-2632, or Cathy Jackson at (502) 366-2317. You can also
e-mail me at bniceley@iglou.com. An immediate response is
necessary so we can get an idea about numbers. Each attendee
will be provided with a souvenir ticket prior to the event. This
entitles the holder to free entry into the ballroom and to free
hors d'oeuvres. We hope to see you there.
