Hello,
Below is an announcement of the development of software which will enable
the Technical Braille Center at Computers to Help People, Inc. to produce
chemistry books with fast turnaround time. I am not sure at this point if
it can be made available to others, but it seems to me like a significant
development, quite relevant to this list.
John

Here at the Technical Braille Center we are thrilled to announce that
we have developed software which enables us to produce Braille
textbooks on chemistry with our usual fast turnaround time. The books
conform to the latest standards. Structural formulas are rendered in
spatial layouts in Braille. This is less expensive and occupies less
space than reproducing them as tactile graphics. Ordinary graphs are
     produced in tactile form, however.

We are now accepting orders for chemistry books and for other books
on science and mathematics. It is not too soon for you and your students
to start thinking about what will be needed for the Spring semester.
Orders are accepted on a first-come-first-served basis, so that's another
reason to get your order in early. We must see the book which you want
brailled to give a price estimate.

If you would like the book in electronic format, we can do that. In
this case, graphs will be provided in bound Braille volumes.

You can contact us by e-mail at chpi@execpc.com and by phone
(preferably in the afternoon) at 608-257-5917.
