Hi there,
Actually we do need better navigation standards and feedback via speech to
access the many extra parts of DVDs,but right now I have no trouble
accessing the main program/movie on DVD's. I have perhaps a couple dozen
movies right now and if one places the disc in the machine and hits play
my machine will start and play the main movie.
However, theres no excuse for not having all parts of the DVD accessible
to us, just as all parts are accessible right now for the deaf.
It is a shame that NFB continues to fight against standard descriptive
narration for all movies and TV shows on the air and on DVDs. There is
little or no excuse for this since the technology would easily allow for
several extra soundtracks, for foreign language, descriptive narrations
and director's commentary.
