>Dear colleagues,
>
>I am pleased to announce that the National Federation of the Blind Jernigan Institute, through the National Center for Blind Youth in Science, is supporting a Vertical Mentoring Workshop for the Blind (VMWB) in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) to be held at the University of Washington, Seattle. This innovative workshop is scheduled to take place from July 26-28, 2006.
>
>This workshop will enhance the career development of high school, under graduate, and graduate students who are blind and who have an interest in a STEM career. In addition, blind professionals in STEM careers are encouraged to participate as mentors. The workshop will feature a technology fair which highlights emerging technologies which enhance the participation of the blind in STEM fields. Lastly, in conjunction with the workshop, the NFB Jernigan Institute will be hosting a one day workshop for employers to raise awareness and encourage the recruitment and hiring of blind people in STEM careers.
