Hello Colleagues:

Just wanted to let you know that a new printer is on the market that can create tactile images. It is the Roland Lec-330. The Lec-330 is normally used by those who want to create large signs, banners, wraps, prototype packaging etc. The unique characteristic about this machine is that it can deposit a clear UV curing epoxy over color images. This can be used to protect the image for outdoor use, or for creating tactile effects. It turns out that the Lec-330 and its slower predecessor the Lec-300 can create very nice braille, well defined raised lines and patterns. The Lec-330 can produce output at a rate of 101SQFT per hour. The Lec-330 and Lec-300 can print on a wide variety of media including, paper, plastic, thin tagboard and fabric. The machine is large 86X49X32 and can handle rolls 29 inches wide. I am working on getting some samples and will try to have some available for those who are interested. This is not inexpensive equipment. The Lec-300 is priced at about $53,000 and the Lec-330 is priced at $59,995. More later.

Regards,

Robert Jaquiss
