Hi Dave!
It is sure good to hear from you, too.
I devoted last year in large part to being a technical lead on a high
profile cutting edge technology shindig.
Now I am in a PHD program fulltime, since January, and very happy for it.
Don't worry about the s&e list, I am list moderator, so if the subjects
interest you,
stay on, if not, let me know and I'll lower your inbox bandwidth by
removing you from the list.
I recall you were doing some GUI SW design and struggling with it last we
talked.
As it turns out, I tried to use Henterjoyce Jaws for Windows this last fall
to integrate
Borland 5.01 code into a large project with a simulation environment
created by another 2 engineers.
No luck.
3 months later, I knew it was time to move on.
So greetings from UCSD!
we have a braille math library now,
you'll see mail on the list about making the web Microsoft and others get
their math into a format
we can import and read with nonvisual means,
and the division is encouraging basic research into typeset math recognition,
so you could scan a page from a calculus book and out would come the
equations on your computer.
That is kind of what we are up to!
Take care,
John
