With respect to a "graphing calculator": some twenty-five
years ago when I was an undergrad at Reed Colleg, we had an IBM
1130 computer whose FORTRAN routine library contained a
set of routines taking as input data points in a two-dimensional
array and outputing to the printer or plotter characters which
made a printed or plotted graph of the data points. Such a thing
is definitely possible.
