mathematics, science, and software development for persons with
disabilities in attending Recording for the Blind's invitational
conference, "Math & Science Working Symposium," May 12 & 13, 1994.
The conference announcement attached will provide you with an
understanding of what we expect to accomplish. If you have any
questions or recommendations feel free to contact me.
The conference will begin Thursday morning at Recording for the

persons with disabilities. While access to the areas of math and
science remain difficult, research has seen significant results.
This conference will provide an opportunity for researchers and
developers to share their findings with others. We expect that
many opportunities to work with others to advance access to
mathematical and scientific information will spring forth.

Participants will be asked to help develop a conference
agenda that makes the best use of everybody's time and
expertise.
* To understand current methods of accessing information
Participants will be asked to share their knowledge of
how persons with print disabilities currently obtain and
gain access to information that is mathematical and
scientific in nature.
* To understand current research
Participants will be asked to prepare reports and
demonstrations of their research in the areas of
accessing math and science.
* To work together
Participants will be asked to identify areas of research
& development that can jointly be developed with various
groups.
* To identify needed service & systems
Participants will be asked to develop a concept of
services & system(s) needed to further access to math and
