Greetings:
This is to forward a list of CD ROM titles to be included in our
current project. Please order these items and send your invoice to
me to be reimbursed.
This project has generated a good deal of interest. In addition to
the messages contributed to NFB-RD@NFBCAL.ORG, I have received
several e-mail notes and a few phone calls. The titles below have
been pruned to a manageable size from a much larger list. It is my
hope that these selections will be useful to students at secondary
and graduate levels.
One clarification of the purpose of this project may be in order:
We are to go beyond simply determining that a specific CD ROM is
accessible with speech software by providing configuration files
for popular screen reading programs that optimize performance for
each of the CD ROM titles. Students in non-technical fields will
especially benefit a great deal from the work you invest in this
project.
As project manager, you may enlist the services of others. You may
want to ask Henter-Joyce and MicroTalk if they wish to contribute
configuration files for any of the CD ROMS on the list. I would be
surprised if you receive less than enthusiastic participation from
these progressive companies.
Please keep this group informed of your progress. This will make
it easier for other volunteers who will be contributing
configuration files for other screen reading programs.
I said at the outset that we would select six titles to begin this
project. The list that follows is considerably larger. This only
proves that you can't keep a good project down.
