Subj: ICADD AND WORDPERFECT
In our office at GSA, Paul Fontaine has just gotten word
from the manager of electronic publishing tools for
WordPerfect that the International Committee on
Accessible Document Design (ICADD) document type
discription, (DTD) is being included in their Intellitag
upgrade. Now in english, this means, I think,
Wordperfect has a packaged called Intellitag that is
used to produce SGML files. ICADD has developed a group
of "tags" that when used, can help to make document
conversion into speech and braille easier.
The next version of Intellitag, coming out next week,
will have as one of its options to save files as ICADD
compliant, or some such phrase.
A week ago the wordperfect manager for electronic
publishing was at our office to learn about
accessibility and he was very eager to include to set of
ICADD tags in their products.
He also said that in a future upgrade of wordperfect
for windows, 6.2 or .3, Intellitag with the ICADD
standards will be an intrigral part of Wrodperfect, not
an add-on.
To get more info on just what these tags and document
discriptions are all about you'll have to pose your
questions to someone like Richard Jones, or Mike
Paciello, this stuff breaks my brain. The only thing I
do know is this is a possitive move on the part of
Wordperfect.
