On July 4, 1994, blind scientists and engineers came together to
found the Science and Engineering Division of the National
Federation of the Blind. We celebrated 54 years of Federation
progress towards obtaining security, equality, and opportunity for
the blind and pledged to further opportunities for the blind in
science and engineering. The Science and Engineering Division of
the National Federation of the Blind is a forum for discussing
concerns of the blind in science and engineering, and a mechanism
through which blind scientists and engineers and other interested
persons can discuss programs to further opportunities for the blind
in science and engineering. The Sciwence and Engineering Division
electronic mailing list is one such program. It is open to active
and supporting members of the Science and Engineering Division of
the National Federation of the Blind.

publication of the National Federation of the Blind, please
indicate whether you would like to receive it in print, on
cassette, or in braille. Announcements regarding the Science and
Engineering Division will appear periodically in the Monitor
Miniatures at the end of the Braille Monitor.
The mailing list is open to active and supporting members of the
Science and Engineering Division of the National Federation of the
Blind. By sending your name and address to John Miller, you are
becoming a supporting member of the Science and Engineering
Division. Supporting members do not pay dues, and may not vote or
hold office. Of course, supporting members are welcome to
participate in the forum. If you wish to become an active member,
you may do so at the annual meeting of the Science and Engineering
Division at the Convention of the National Federation of the Blind,
or contact John Miller. Active members pay dues, and may vote and
hold office. Membership dues are $5 per year.
