Hello Gary:

The Arkenstone reading machines use Calera software for the scanning
function. Arkenstone was set up by Calera. Jim Fruchtermann, the president of Arkenstone
is one of the founders of Calera. If your priend has sighted assistance
available, I suggest that the latest version of Wordscan be purchased along with
a HP IICX scanner and document feeder. This setup and a fast PC should do great things.
I do suggest at least a 486 66MHZ CPU or a Pentium based system with at least
8MB or RAM preferable 16MB. A large hard disk is also a must for this type of work.
