Dear Mr. Buhro,
We must stop thinking in terms of "Do my microwave first, then maybe I'll ask you to make my VCR accessible."
The engineers doing VCR's are in one lab; the engineers doing microwave ovens and entirely somewhere else. There is not one pot of money that is being drained by product designers. With all the political and corporate influence we could muster, we
could never say, "Hey guys, why not take those resources you are spending on presenting "on-screen" feedback for the next color TV and make me a display for my exercycle."
Priorities for development of products is not distributed that way (maybe in the old Soviet Union). If we get a company ear, let's bend it and make our desires known.
