I appreciated your comments about the Optacon. I would like to understand
more your comment about the Optacon II display becoming "mushy" when the
camera is moved rapidly. This could be a result of the microprocessor speed
being too slow (the Optacon R1D didn't have a microprocessor).
The talking Optacon project failed primarily for economic reasons. We
couldn't compete against Xerox's Kurzweil machine giveaway program. The
limited field of the Optacon camera was somewhat a problem, but it worked
with careful scanning. Eventually the camera would have be redesigned.
