COORDINATOR OF ASSISTIVE COMMUNICATION
AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
DIVISION OF REHABILITATION EDUCATION SERVICES
UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS, URBANA-CHAMPAIGN
Applications are invited for the position of Coordinator of Assistive
Communication and Information Technology within the Division of
Rehabilitation Education Services. The Coordinator is responsible for the
coordination of campus-wide access to communication, information, and
computer-based technologies and services for persons with disabilities.
Specifically, the Coordinator will promote the development of uniform
accessibility standards, policies and practices for campus-based computer
laboratories; implement responsive procedures for resolving immediate
individualized technology needs within the Computing and Communication
Services Office (CCSO), Digital Computer Lab (DCL), Housing Division, and
administrative and departmental computer sites; lecture/consult
constituencies on and- off campus regarding communication and information
technology access; secure external funding; and, direct research for the
purpose of enhancing the access of persons with disabilities to
communication and information technology resources and services.
The position requires a M.S. in engineering, computer science or a related
field, and 3 years experience in adaptive computer technologies. A Ph.D.
in engineering, computer science or a related field is preferred.
This is a full-time, nine month academic professional position with an
additional two month summer contract. Salary is commensurate with
qualifications. The proposed starting date is September 21,1996.
