Project Name:
Blood test Assist
The Problem:
Diabetics must test their blood at least once a day and sometimes four or more times a day. If a diabetic is blind, they must use the sides of their fingers for lancing sites in order to obtain blood. This is painful. Sighted diabetics can use their arms, legs or other parts of their body since they can see the blood. A test strip mounted in a meter is brought into contact with blood in order to test it.
Design Challenge:
Design a device that can hold a lancet and glucometer such as the Prodigy Voice. When the user lances him/herself, the device should move the glucometer so that the strip is in contact with a drop of blood. The device must be able to be cleaned with alcohol.
Design Parameters:
The device should use existing talking glucometers and lancet's. Use of a lancing pen may make the design easier.
