A surprised Helen Dodge receiving
the Jacobus tenBroek award
from President Nancy Burns
The Jacobus tenBroek award is presented to Federationists who have provided outstanding services to the organization. It is not an award that is routinely given each year. When given, however, it is presented during the banquet of the annual state convention.
On Saturday, Oct. 4, 2003, this award was presented to Helen Dodge. Helen has been a member of the NFBC for many years. She is known for her outstanding secretarial skills. At one point she served as secretary for four different local chapters simultaneously.
Helen, who is in her seventies, has supposedly retired. However, she works full time out of her home as a medical transcriber.
During the presentation of the Jacobus tenBroek award to Helen, she was obviously overwhelmed, and even speechless. She managed a quiet, "Thank you so much" as she held up her award.
