Hi Gary,

WordScan is from a company called Calera Recognition Systems, and
is the optical character recognition system that
Arkenstone uses. So, in terms of accuracy, one system doesn't
necessarily offer any advantages over the other,
although WordScan has methods for correcting scanning errors up front
when the process is going on, (looking at images of questionable characters, etc.)

WordScan is Windows-based, and not necessarily speech-friendly.
Arkenstone offers a system that a blind person can use independently.

If the person isn't going to use it him/her self, then there may be no
advantage to the Arkenstone.

There are two versions of Wordscan though, the straight and
WordScan Plus with more features. don't know if
OCR is better in the later either.
