A suggestion from Judy Dixon is forwarded below with permission.
I invite your free association on graphic symbols and a reference
document here. If you are inspired to comment on the unified
braille code project, brctr@ulkyvm.louisville.edu is the place to
do that.

Subject: Tactile Graphics

Tim, I have been thinking for some time that what is needed is a
comprehensive reference book on fonts, symbols, etc. in tactile
form.
Whenever I see letters reprinted from people who are so opposed to
the
UBC, I am more and more convinced that we need to create the
materials to
train people about print. In my opinion, UBC as currently proposed
only
takes a small baby step closer to being able to represent the
myriad of
styles and forms of print without even getting into full-fledged
graphics. I think that most blind people are woefully ignorant
about
print and symbology. What do you think of a reference document?
How
could we get the ball rolling on something like this? Take care.
