FORWARDED MAIL FROM CURTIS CHONG

After reading both e-mails from Curtis Chong, I agree with his
assessment that Compuserve is largely taking credit for
Henter-Joyce's initiative and while I think it is all well and
good that the problem of access to Compuserve is being adressed,
I believe that blind persons are entitled to the same access that
any other Compuserve customer is. When a new customer signs up
with Compuserve, he or she is given a copy of Cim, Compuserve
Information Manager to use on Compuserve. I think a blind person
signing up is entitled to the same thing free of charge. Why
should we pay hundreds of dollars for the same thing other
subscribers get free?

After all, Compuserve is tayloring its service for its own
software. For example, you cannot make travel reservations
with any other software besides Cim, and that is but one example.
So we should be given as close as possible to the same access as
sighted participants on the same terms.
